Angenieux lens on R

Hi everybody, I have an Angenieux Zonn , in perfect condition but the problen is that ithave a Nikon Mount..

 

Did somebody know if I can put some kind of converter to use in a R8?? or even if is posible to "change" the mount for a R sistem?

Converter: no.

In theory it is possible to change the mount but the cost could probably be almost as much as the lens is worth. If you like Angenieux optics you might consider part exchanging your Nikon fit lens for one in Leica fitting ... Ffordes list some Angenieux zooms in Leica R mounts ... and they sell lenses on a commission basis ... https://secure.ffordes.com/index.htm

Angenieux have produced some very fine zoom lenses with Leica-R mount over the years:

1) Angenieux 45-90mm_F/2.8

2) Angenieux 35-70mm_F/2.5-3.3

3) Angenieux 70-210mm_F/3.5

 

No.1 was very well built, but nos.2 & 3 were built with plastic barrels. Not exactly up to Leica quality.

 

They also made an autofucus zoom lens, but I am not sure if it was made in Leica-R mount (?) Maybe some of the Leica-Forum members knows about that (?)

4) Angenieux 28-70mm AF_F/2.6-3.3

 

Angenieux also made two prime lenses in Leica-R mount:

5) Angenieux 180mm APO_F/2.3

6) Angenieux DEM 200mm ED_F/2.8

 

However - if your Angenieux zoom lens has a Nikon mount - I suggest you buy a Nikon digital camera body and use it on that brand of camera. It should be possible (!)

I have all three zooms, and while it is true that the 35-70 and the 70-210 are in plastic (polycarbonate) barrels, the execution is of very high quality. They are exceptionally good lenses, and should not be "snobbed" on just because of the choice of material. Polycarbonate does save weight!

I owned a 35-70 some years back and had no problems with mechanical or optical quality. However, for some very strange reason it did not work flawlessly on an R8 as the diaphragm got locked after each exposure. There were no problems on an R4.

 

I now have the 2.8/45-90 3-cam, but mostly for collection purposes. This lens has the same mechanical design as the regular Leica lenses, and no doubt it was a good lens in its days, but obviously zoom lenses have improved in quality since the 1970s.

 

I asked Leica some time ago if there was anyone who could service the lenses and apparently there is someone in Paris. Angenieux withdrew from the amateur market many years back and is now only active in the professional TV/movie etc. market.
