Hi everyone,

I currently use a Apple MacBook Pro that I love - other than the fact it does not seem to support RAW for my D-Lux 2 (even without RAW, the photos are spectacular). Like most of you, I am thinking about the M8 - I do think it would be great to have with my M6. Do you know if the DNG format will be supported by Apple to shoot RAW? Thanks!

You would need a RAW converter like Adobe Camera RAW. DNG is adobes open digital negative format. iPhoto and Aperture support RAW but I'm not sure they currently read DNG currently, but I'm sure they will soon. It's not really a Mac or PC compatibility issue it's more it's really just a converter issue.

BTW i just completely switched to Apple and even my DMR DNG files i can see thumbnails in my folders , i just loaded a litle program called Pic2Icon and all my Tif's, Jpegs and DNG files i can se thumbnails. i also use C1 for all my raw processing for the DNGfiles. plus there are some programs for Mac only Raw developer is very good which many MF Leaf shooters use. CS2, Silky Pix and a host of others can be used on mac or PC. Now Aperture does NOT support DNG files at least not the DMR's DNG and until they announce a change it will not see the M8 either. there are some others out there to look into also like Lightroom from Adobe. i would not worry so much about support with the M8 and mac

Please take a look at my post "DNG Myth" over on the "M8 and bundled software (Macintosh?)" thread.

Kept in mind that RAW support in Aperture is defined by the system and not the application itself.

Additionally, beleive it or not, DNG support is provided by Apple and behaves similar to other RAW applications.
