skrieger Posted May 15, 2008 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is the first time I'm using this forum. I'm looking to buy a Leica D-Lux 3 or V-Lux 1. I'm interested in using this to capture large photos and than on the computer cut out sections to use in creating art pieces. I have not used raw data and am still confused as to what this is. I would like to use the camara for close up shots and for taking quick shots. Can anyone recomend which camera would be my better choice. Thank you, SK

hunterits Posted May 16, 2008 Share #2 Posted May 16, 2008 Haven't used the V-Lux, but the D-Lux 3 is a wonderful camera and I use it constantly. It is small and convenient and the image quality is excellent. The close-up feature works very well and I would highly recommend it for a pocket camera. Thomas Edwards Posted May 16, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 16, 2008 ...both of these cameras were discussed extensively in recent threads on the digital section, which you may wish to refer to... ...i have both (tho the pana/lumix version of the v-lux1), and both are extremely competent cameras...to me, the difference comes down to: size/portability (+ dl3); 16:9 aspect (+dl3); wide angle (+dl3); zoom lens (+vl1); nature/sports/wild life (+ vl1); street shooting (+ dl3)...neither camera is particularly good for macro/close-up photography (if this feature is important, you may wish to consider a used diglux2 with an el-pro macro lens if you can find one)... ...so i guess it all depends on what is important for your shooting requirements...good luck...
