Austin 7 Specials were de rigeur in the 1950s and a basic car for conversion could be had for £5 which is what mine cost. I completed it in 1957 with a space frame body covered with aluminium sheet, and after hours and hours of work with inadequate and inappropriate tools. But you learn a hell of lot about cars when you do that.The main difference between this car and other specials is that I ftted two Amal carburettors off motor bikes.
