abrewer Posted May 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a dear friend contemplating a new camera, pocketsize, debating the merits of Nikon Coolpix v a PanaLeica (not sure which model) She's looking to spend about $200 and I was hoping some of you could suggest the model (Panasonic, that is) you'd most recommend to her; or, if you think a Coolpix is the better choice, which of them you'd prefer Thanks in advance Allan

Bob Ross Posted May 10, 2008 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2008 Hi Allan, The $200. might limit some choices. Our kids have Canon "A" and an HP and they are only snap shooters. I just got the new Panasonic Lumix FX500 (see my thread on Leica's newest digital lens), but it goes for $350. For folk with kids or pets is has a touch screen where you can touch focus and it will track the subject. It is tiny, the lens is good, the IS works, color pallet is nice and the meter seems accurate. I don't have any info on the current coolpix line, but I made an 8 X 10 from my cousin's Casio Z-something that impressed a few people. Good hunting.
