Advertisement Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hi echorec, Take a look here What is this (0-series)?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Erik van Straten Posted May 9, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted May 9, 2008 It can be a prototype of the 0-series 2000. Or maybe it's an Arces Leica 0. I don't know. It's very nice! I love the covering. Almost the same of the famous 107.
echorec Posted May 9, 2008 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 9, 2008 Thanks Erik, what is an Arces Leica 0? Â Best,
Erik van Straten Posted May 9, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted May 9, 2008 Arces Leica O camera's are made by an Italian individual, named Arces. No doubt the quality of his work inspired Leica to produce the 0-series of 2000. That's all I know about the guy. But comparing the images above, I don't think the camera you show is an Arces Leica O. Somehow it looks very genuine. If it's a fake, it's very well done. I like it very much. The rewind differs from the Leica 0-series of 2000. Maybe it's a copy of the O made in Ukraina.
Erik van Straten Posted May 10, 2008 Share #5 Â Posted May 10, 2008 The top plate misses two holding screws on the front. The engraving is weird. Where did you get this image, Gunnar?

echorec Posted May 10, 2008 Author Share #8 Â Posted May 10, 2008 Yes, that is the one. It is on the wrong part of Sweden for me so I cannot inspect it personally. Â What do you think of this camera JC?
jc_braconi Posted May 10, 2008 Share #9 Â Posted May 10, 2008 Â What do you think of this camera JC? Â as Leica constructed 31 trial run test cameras numbered 100-130, this one is amazingly numbered 000, it can be an Italian replica, one with the tubular viewfinder as some were made with the flip-up one. a nice piece, well made, in my opinion for a replica. Erik van Straten Posted May 10, 2008 Share #10 Â Posted May 10, 2008 On the website to wich JC directed us, a better look on the front of the camera is given. The engraving on the lens is very poorly done. I think it's a Russian or Ukrainian mystification.
