jaifo Posted May 5, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted May 5, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I will be visiting New York next thursday (coming from Barcelona) and i had planned to buy a used M6 from Tamarkin. But to my surprise, they no longer have their shop open! I was looking for a Ex+ or mint M6 (around 1300-1500$) plus a new VC 35/1.7. Photovillage has some cosina stuff, but all their used M6 are 0.85 (i wear glasses and i am not confortable with that viewfinder magnification). Any other place to look at? Â Thank's! Advertisement Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Hi jaifo, Take a look here where to buy a used M6 in New York?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Vieri Posted May 5, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted May 5, 2008 I suggest you'd stop by Photovillage anyway, it's worth a visit. Definitely check out BH & Adorama, they have SH M6 in stock, plus the former is definitely something else - biggest photo shop I have ever been into! kirk-michael Posted May 7, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted May 7, 2008 Though not in New York, but Monterey Ca. (831-643-9088 ) ( camerawest.com), Camera West currently has about 30-50 used m's in stock, maybe 25 of those M-6's...Sean Cranor recently purchased a huge cache of them for his store...He is very reputable and I purchased my M6's and M8 from him...No better place in the USA right now to get used M 6's of all types..might be worth the call to talk to them...good luck, its a great camera
roguewave Posted May 7, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted May 7, 2008 jaifo, try Ken Hansen. He is on the eastside in the 70's. I buy lots of gear from him. Here's his email address. khpny@aol.com. His tell# is 212 -879-3263 You can akso call ADORAMA or go online to their site. I saw one in there a few days ago while buying film. Ken's the best source I know. Very knowledgeable, fair and has great stuff. Lots of Leica, Hassey, Rollie...only the good stuff. Ben
kirk-michael Posted May 7, 2008 Share #5 Â Posted May 7, 2008 jaifo. To update my comments about Camerawest for M's (it is a Leica Boutique Store )...there are currently 20 rare M6's from $2695-$11,500 and 28 "normal" M6's from $1395 - $2995...and that is just M6's..There are many other M's also..They also have an Ultron 1.7 Blk at $345. I have been visiting CameraWest for years and have never seen such a wealth of used M's in one spot...Sean Cranor is the owner and a great guy. Again, good luck on your search. cosmonaut Posted May 8, 2008 Share #6 Â Posted May 8, 2008 I got my M6 at Adorama Ebay. $1200.00 on the money. The camera is almost mint. There is one small spot on the rewinder that I didn't even notice the first week I had it.
parrish Posted May 8, 2008 Share #7 Â Posted May 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Further regarding Camera West, I am attending a conference here in Monterey and stumbled across the store just today as it is a block away from the conference hotel. It is extremely well stocked and a great place to peruse a wide variety of equipement. I was looking at the R series cameras, not the M's, but in so doing I learned that all of their equipment works correctly when shipped, including a CLA if needed, so there should be no extra expense on your end after the purchase. The difference in pricing is all relative to the grade, which is essentially cosmetic. They ship all over the world. Their current web site, camerawest: Home, is being overhauled and should be greatly improved in a few weeks. I thought the prices were reasonable, but they do tend to carry only cleaner examples. The stuff in the store was all very nice. Wow, it was quite something to see "all" varieties of Leica cameras and lenses stacked up in rows on the shelves.
