50mm's all round ...

I've used 50mm since 1945 as my primary lens (IIIc, M4, M6, M7). It's just like a previous poster's comments - - I "see" things in 50mm.

Now, I'm using the 24mm for some shots, as it can capture the extreme wide angle views needed for crowded narrow streets and interiors. But, I gotta' use the external viewfinder and really triple check the composition.

Two completely different shooting styles.

Have had many Ms since 1958, all w/ just a single 50 (except a M4-2w/35lux in the early 80s). I've been off in the World of 8x10 the last eight years and even there have been diagnosed as obsessively anal in my mission to keep-it-simple. I now await a beyond-simple O-serie with that terrific and tiny 50mm Elmar - which in time, for my own reasons, will be my only camera! I don't expect anybody to understand.

First post. Nice to be aboard.

I am constantly amazed how versatile the 50 is, and that's the rigid 'cron. There are times I really do need another lens, but I wouldn't be without a 50.
