Willem van Oranje

David, I am not an expert but I feel there is more to this picture. The details is there but you need to brighten up the image. You can do it in Adobe.Play with the curves or levels. It looks dull here. My 2 Liras.

Best,

Mehmet

Mehmet,

Thanks for the comments. Interestingly the original disappointed me too and I have already done what you suggest to the shot as posted. In fact I pushed the changes much further and the result was not good. One reason for posting was to gauge the reaction of my peers. It is interesting to note that when one has filtered out the polite comments on the replies one is left with a fairly accurate assessment of the work. That W van O received just under 100 views with no comment to me suggests mediocre work. That is my conclusion. For a photographer who does not belong to a club and works alone this forum and the feedback is excellent. It certainly is the basis of a learning curve.

Praise is most welcome but constructive criticism is a positive aid to improvement.

Once again, thank you,

PS And I have just removed it from my gallery

David: I think perhaps you're being unduly harsh on yourself (I've probably looked at this six times, and - as often with looking at shots on this forum - each time I've been interrupted by a bl**dy client phonecall - they just don't know when to shut up! So thus, as often, no comment). It is a slightly dull-coloured shot on my monitor, but as such - probably because of this flatness - it reminds me more of a damask fabric print.

cheers:

Sam
