storybrown Posted April 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) For no reason I can determine, my motor drive R4 suddenly isn't driving & the R4s2 it's on has to be advanced by the lever, shot-by-shot. There is still battery power, apparently. The drive has always worked fine through several dozen rolls & some battery replacements heretofore. Does anyone have an idea what I might be doing wrong - or not doing right? I assume it's me or something I've done, rather than the drive.
Advertisement Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Hi storybrown, Take a look here Motor Drive R4 query. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
symmetron Posted April 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 11, 2008 This may or may not be relevant, but my R4 winders would lock up occasionally and I had to remove and then reinstall the battery pack for it to work. This was especially true when reaching the end of the roll of film.
storybrown Posted April 11, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted April 11, 2008 Sounds perfectly relevant to me. I'm going to try it. If it doesn't work, I'll replace all the batteries. Camera works fine, just like any R4 - just with a motor drive attached (like a dummy drive, or something). Thanks!
storybrown Posted April 11, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted April 11, 2008 symmetron, You see what happens when you live right? I opened, slid out & slid in the battery tray for the R4 drive, more or less just as you suggested, and it fired away. I shot thru a roll of film (and prolly burnt up most of what remained of these batteries) just seeing if it would continue to work. It did. So, there you are. Happy again, and will go back to my R8 for awhile (and now for sure replace the R4 motor drive batteries). Thanks! Guy
