stunsworth Posted March 22, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 22, 2008 Ok, how about buying a camera, keeping the base, and throwing the rest away.
andybarton Posted March 22, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted March 22, 2008 I tried to swap the black one for the silver one while I was in the shop, but he was having none of it
andybarton Posted April 20, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted April 20, 2008 Will an M6 base fit an M7? (Or rather should an M6 base, fit an M7?)
Guest MP User Posted April 20, 2008 Share #7 Posted April 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Will an M6 base fit an M7? (Or rather should an M6 base, fit an M7?) You can use the base plate either on the M7 or the M6. Which one do you need? Black or chrome?
andybarton Posted April 20, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted April 20, 2008 I was sold a black M6 plate by my dealer, but it just won't go on the bottom of my M7. It almost closes, but not quite. When this film is finished, I will do a proper compare of the two plates. I'm wondering if this M6 one has the tab for rotating the old Leica canisters, which means it won't work on an M7. (Thanks Andrew N...) I'll take it back to him during the week, if I get a chance.
Guest MP User Posted April 20, 2008 Share #9 Posted April 20, 2008 Andy, do your M7 have the IR DX-detector? If yes, the base plate needs to be adapted with an additional washer to keep the film canister in a proper position. If you need a chrome one for your M7 please send me a PM.
