Tripod Mount - any advice?

I have just bought the legendary Kinoptik 2.8/210mm lens (used), which I would also like to try out on a Leica R. This is a very heavy lens (more than 2 kg) and there is no tripod mount, and it is of course not safe to affix the camera to a tripod with this lens mounted.

Kinoptik in France will only sell me a Tripod Holder if I also do a T-mount conversion of the lens with them, but their charge is sky high and much higher than other professionals who convert the mount to T mount so they can be used on all cameras.

Does anyone know of anyone who produce Tripod holders?

If you want a new 2.8/210 from Kinoptik, it is a bargain at Euro 6045 Ex works.

Many thanks indeed - this one I really liked.

The lens is the same as my very own. As far as I have been able to learn, the 210mm is togehter with the 100mm the most "prestigeous" Kinoptik lenses. Interesting also that some lenses are twice the cost of Leica (almost).

Yes, I remember I read about this one in Zeiss Camera Lens News. I do not know how much the buyer paid. Apparently he was a rather wealthy individual from the Middle East someplace.

I just bought the Manfrotto 293 on eBay. It was only about $75 and if it does not fit the Kinoptik perfectly, I can use it for other lenses.

I am a little bit upset with Kinoptik. Their prices have doubled within the last year or so, and the conversion work is priced very very high. They still build and sell lenses, but I would assume only for professional use.
