Timer for M8

Sounds like a fun project.

Solenoid, cable release, dry cell battery, clock, couple of wires and away you go,

or you might pick up an LM556 (If I remember the chip number for a dual timer circuit, set one for the interval (rc), the other to be triggered by the first, and then to drive an open collector transistor to the dc solenoid.

Piece of cake

More fun if you would like it pneumatically actuated with a tire used as a source of compressed air in the field.

Send us a picture when you are done.

Seriously, nope I haven't seen anything recently off the shelf.

It would be a lot easier if Leica externalised the connections required to trigger the shutter, as Nikon does. That said, Nikon cameras like the D2x and D3 have built intervalometers. This really is not an ideal application for a Leica M.

I've never seen such an intervalometer for an M.

I would, however, only be mildly surprised to discover some German camera elf who, during an bout of boredom, had adapted a medication dosimeter into an M intervalometer and was now selling it for $1,500 through a Web site.

I hope you have permission to use your assistant's image, Charlie. ;)

This brings back memories. That F-1 was a -real- camera! There was no way I could have afforded one of my own when I was in college. But I was able to borrow one from a friend (who went on in life to win a Pulitzer and several other awards) one weekend to shoot some architectural work. My hands trembled through the first roll. Wow, that was some picture-takin' power!
