That's why you have partners! That's why there are BMW engines in Bentley automobiles. That's why VW and Porsche collaborate! That's why you have Panasonic. "Purists" may malign these types of cooperation, but if you want Leica to continue to exist, then get off your cross.

Just for the record, Bentleys do not have BMW engines, they have VW engines. Rolls Royces have BMW engines.

Yes, but how many were produced? A thousand? Three thousand? A few hundred?

I remember people whining on here about DMR firmware and crop factors and such, and they were made June '05 to Feb '07 or therebouts, yes? One year, seven months, not a bad lifespan for a digital anything. However, did it revive the R line of cameras? I don't think so... People still preferring to take R lenses and put them on Canons?

Since the DMR is out of production we have no other choice. As to why i do not have a DMR now is the high cost. I still am using my R8 and hope that I can either find a decently priced DMR, or the R10, or whatever it is called, will be priced so I can afford it, and if it still will use my R lenses. As for supporting the R system, I have in the past year or so, bought 3 lenses. I have 2 bodies so do not need any more.

Geex... Worse than I thought. So, you might have 3500 people who are just MAD for a new R? A business in the global market won't cross the road for 3500 people.

What makes you think that only DMR owners would like a digital R? There are many more R users out there that would go for one if the lenses were compatible. If not then I would think the current R users would desert the ship like rats on a sinking ship and Leica would have a White Elephant on their hands. If I see that the lenses are not compatible, then I for one would seriously think of going to Nikon and the D3, even though I really love my R lenses. I am not a Canon person and will not go that way.
