Hey,

I found this Leica between my grandfather`s things and I was wondering whether anybody could tell me it`s approximate value.

The number is 315056 and the objective is a Leitz Elmar f = 5 cm 1:3,5

Thanks, Anna

After the serial number, if the body has not been upgraded some day, it should be a Leica II from 1939. A picture at least could help to define.

It is however impossible to give any value idea without having studied the body and the lens carefully technically as well as visually.

Hi.

here are some pics...

This camera looks like a "New York Leica II", because of the small metal disk on the front, mounted over the slow shutter speed knob.

Those NY camera have been assembled between 1947 and 1948 on Leica III bodies.

It should be examined by a professional to be certain.

This camera has been later upgraded to a flash synchronized camera (~1950 and later).

Despite the out of focus pictures quality, this camera seems looking pretty good.

I suggest you let her have a CLA (Clean-Lubricate-Adjust) by an well known technician (here are some address: Leica FAQ - Where can I get Leica repairs done? ).

This camera could proudly stand for another 50-60 years (if films are still made then).
