ASpes Posted July 9, 2009 Share #61 Posted July 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd like to share this as it could be of interest, but don't take on me, just reporting ... A post just appeared on DPR on a similar thread showing how to do a TEN-MINUTE-SELF-REPAIR of a lense jammed by the infamous loose screw. It's actually about the 14-50 and not the 14-150, but it seems that as far as this problem, the two lenses are quite alike, so guess what is said for one could well apply to the other too. As it is, it looks fairly simple, so if this works ... Re: 14-50 Leica f2.8.-f3.5 jammed.: Olympus SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review Any daring one? Best to all. pitti Posted July 10, 2009 Share #62 Posted July 10, 2009 ASpes, thank you this great hint! A friend of mine repair his lens today within 15 min. He told me that it was very easy. He had to tighten only three screws. Now the lens works like new! Panasonic price about 500$ for such repair. Unbelievable! The 3 loose-fitting screws seems to be a productions error. I suggest all owners of the lens to save the link above. Regards Peter

Regards Peter Peter, Real glad of your feedback, but we all have to thank the original DPR poster, MLVDE, as in every forum this issue raised lots of threads like this one. I'm happy everything went well for your friend, guess I need such confirmations from the daring ones, as, funny as may look, I'm not one when it comes to my photo equipment. What is amazing, to me at least, is that the solution, as it seems, was such a doddle. Now to make everything perfect, maybe someone could be kind enough to post a few pictures "à la Mark Norton" of the surgery? That would be a real help. Thanks again, Peter, for your feedback, hope others will add to it too. All the best.

gj@yderby.dk Posted October 8, 2010 Share #65 Posted October 8, 2010 Does anybody in this forum have experience with getting an L1 LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT lens repaired in Europe? The Leica repair facility in Germany does not accept repairing this lens, as the "do not have an agreement with Panasonic"....
peterm1_Leica Posted October 8, 2010 Share #66 Posted October 8, 2010 Has anyone seen this post? Basically it describes how to fix the jamming problem with the 14-50 lens by yourself. The problem is caused by a loose screw and the fix involves nothing more than tightening it. . It looks very easy to do and makes one wonder why service agents sometimes charge so much for a hob that takes a few moments. Touch wood, I have not experienced any problems with the lens on my L1. 14-50 Leica f2.8.-f3.5 jammed.
