When is Leica going to produce a 17-35 mm-R f/2.8 lens (?)

 

I have just tried my friend's AFS Nikkor 17-35 mm f/2.8 ED-IF lens on his Nikon D200 camera - and I was very impressed with the picture results.

 

I think Leica should make such a lens for the upcoming R-10 digital camera (!)

 

What do you think (?)

If you think the 17-35 Nikon is good, you should really try their new 14-24 f/2.8.

 

As to your question, it's anybody's guess as to what new R lenses for R10 will come out. They do currently make a pretty decent 21-35 f/3.5-4 Vario-Elmar-R right now.

I agree with David, the 14-24/2.8 is the new benchmark. Unless Leica could come up with something similar or beat it, they will only be second best.

Results of a 17-35 lens on a D200 are pretty much pointless on a R digital camera. The sensor of the current DMR is much larger and the available 21-35 covers about the same angle of view.

You are asking for a lens most people would not like to afford or haul around.
