neilm22 Posted March 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 3, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm sure this is an old topic, but I have been out of the loop for a while. I shot Leica M and R film cameras for nearly 30 years, then left the profession and just recently began shooting just for fun with a Digilux 2. I keep seeing the posts about the sensor failures. Can someone tell me briefly about the problem and how commonplace it is.
Advertisement Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Hi neilm22, Take a look here Digilux 2 sensor failure?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted March 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2008 Fairly common and can strike without much warning. Varied symptoms but seems to include a purple colour cast or worse on the LCD. Use the forum search and you'll turn up more information. Good news is that Leica will replace the sensor free of charge, although that can result in severe deprivation syndrome especially if the D2's arrival in Solms co-incides with a shortage of the sensor! The wait however is well worth it. I have re-discovered just how good this camera is since mine returned. I am really glad I turned down their trade-in offer of a D3 at reduced price. d_lague Posted March 4, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2008 I have the same feeling about my LC1. Had the sensor replaced and I am in love with it all over again.
