seascape Posted March 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) In a couple of months, I will be travelling to Beijing & Shanghai, and I was wondering whether I will find better prices there or here in the US. I'm looking for either a new Summarit-M 90mm f/2.5 or a used Summicron-M 90mm f/2 ASPH. I also intend to buy a new C-Lux 2 or D-Lux 3. (I'm willing to pay more for the Leica than the Panasonic model.) I've read reviews about the Leica stores in those cities, but I haven't read anything about prices. Are the prices comparable? storybrown Posted March 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2008 This is an interesting question, now that we're all increasingly good & global & Leica appreciation has been global long since. I hope you get some knowledgeable answers to it, for it would conceivably be very useful information & might come in quite handy over time, not only for your upcoming trip & immediate purposes. If you don't get any substantive replies, however, then look 'em over while you're there & submit a report upon return.
leitz_not_leica Posted March 3, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 3, 2008 The Yuan is pegged to the Dollar, except in the rare cases of Chinese gov't intervention. The best place to buy Leica gear, especially used, is still in the US.
