el.nino Posted February 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, same question as in the the german forum. unfortunately nobody couldn't help me yet. recently i bought a quantum calcu-light xp from ebay because of its ability to measure down to -7 EV - thought i could use it for some night-photography. as it arrived i put in some fresh batteries and took a test measure. soon i found out that all measurements taken differ exactly 2 stops from the ones taken with my sekonic L-558 and minolta auto meter IV. the measurements are the same if i use ISO 400 on the quantum light meter and ISO 100 on the other lightmeters. i think i can pretty much eliminate a operating error as i am pretty sure i did nothing wrong (set the right iso, used the right measuring-method on top and on the rim...). so my question: can this be caused by the age of the lightmeter? it is using a "Blue enhanced silicon photodiode" but i don't know anything about photodiodes. thanks a lot in advance, daniel P.S. already tried other battereis, different filmspeed setting, different lighting conditions etc. it seems that i always differs about 2 stops. P.P.S. you can find the manual and technical data here: Quantum Calcu-Light XP

peter_n Posted February 27, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 27, 2008 Daniel I really can't answer your question about the cause of your problem, but I have two of these meters and they are both fine. I measured mine against a Megatron (modern Weston Euromaster), Minolta IIIF and an M6TTL and M7. There is a repair technician in Los Angeles who has an excellent reputation: Quality Light Metric Co. 7095 Hollywood Blvd # 550 Los Angeles, CA 90028 USA Phone: 323-467-2265 They do not use email nor do they have a web site. Hope this helps.
