erl Posted June 28, 2006 Share #1 Posted June 28, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been trialling and approve of RawShooter Elements (RSE). I was about to upgrade from the free version to Premium (paid) version, but discovered ADOBE have bought the whole 'shootin' match and will not continue it. Instead, they claim, the best features will be incorporated into Lightroom for Windows, when released. My problem. How to to progress? Do I buy the RS Premium or wait, how long, for LightRoom for Windows? Any thoughts or advice? Anyone else considering this conundrum?
Advertisement Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Hi erl, Take a look here Future of RAWSHOOTER - bought by ADOBE. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest stnami Posted June 28, 2006 Share #2 Posted June 28, 2006 Don't upgrade, though the workflow is great the colour rendition of the raw engine is a bit on the so so side and it doesn't correctly read the color temperature settings of camera image files. Adobe may want things like auto removal of color fringing, efficient screen layout etc, who knows some stuff may find its way into Bridge, Silkypix gives better colour though Raw developer is great for colour rendition but mac only
marknorton Posted June 28, 2006 Share #3 Posted June 28, 2006 It's certainly a strategy whch is open to companies who are threatened by a smaller company's better product. Buy the owners out and shut the product down. Cheaper than trying to compete and lose market share.
Guest stnami Posted June 28, 2006 Share #4 Posted June 28, 2006 Yea but I think that this time there are written codes etc Adobe wanted, I heard that Apple said no to RS ages ago
marknorton Posted June 28, 2006 Share #5 Posted June 28, 2006 Buying a company like this is also an easy route to avoiding patent and other IP issues, and my experience is that continued access to the people is more important than access to the code.
