John Sheridan Posted February 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi folks, I'm hoping someone will be able to tell me whether 4 and 8 GB Extreme lll SDHC cards and/or 4, 8, 16 and 32 GB Ultra ll cards can be used successfully in. the DMR. Currently I am using 2GB Ultra ll SD cards but need more storage for a planned remote area bushwalk. Thank you, John Sheridan
Advertisement Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hi John Sheridan, Take a look here SanDisk SDHC cards and the DMR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
glenerrolrd Posted February 22, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2008 You can not use any SDHC card in a DMR. The largest card I have seen used in a DMR is a 4GB(pre-SDHC) . In the USA the card of chose has been the 4GB Transcend card which works with the latest release of the DMR software. I believe thats release 1.3. Highly unlikely that the DMR will ever use the SDHC cards as it would require another software release.
robsteve Posted February 22, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2008 The Sandisk Extreme III work well in the DMR. I noticed that Bestbuy in Canada has them on sale this weekend for $39. The Ultra II are on sale too but are much slower in the DMR, at half the price of the Extreme III.
hdg Posted February 22, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2008 You can not use SDHC-cards. The DMR is made for the old SD-standard, only. I don`t believe that this will or can be changed in future. I had some trouble with some 4 GB SD-cards. Up to about 110 dng-pictures they worked well but beyond 110 the last pictures disapeared after shwitching off the DMR. SanDisk Ultra II and Extreme III are working well. I think you will not notice a difference in case of normal usage. So take the cheaper Ultra II 2 GB = 97 dng-pictures each.
