Camera Obscura Posted February 19, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just wondering, anyone got any experience on which aperture actually provides the best results in terms of sharpness and colour. I guess generally the full opening is not quite as good as closed down a little. Is there anything like a "best aperture" to use in terms of sharpness and colour rendition? Does it change and is it different by lens? Anyone got any examples of a same image shot with different apertures? (I may try doing so myself one day with the lenses I have). Most lenses give their peak lpm at quite wide apertures. Cheers, John John: If you get Erwin Puts' book "the Leica Lens Compendium", he mentions the optimum aperture for each lens in his review of the lens. I have found his observations regarding this to be accurate.
