Brightened-Up

Greetings. I have an I-Book at home with the shiny glass display. Here, at work I have a Dell flat screen monitor. I am either going crazy or have just noticed that there is a major difference in brightness and zing. I took my eagle photograph back into (PS Elements here at work) and gave him a boost. Do you think the shiny glass display is tricking me into thinking that some of my photographs have more life than they really do ?

Al- There's no question that this image is livelier when compared to the original posting.

Ii would also guess that when you take this image back to your I-Book it will look over-enhanced. I've recently noticed the same thing between my laptop & I-MAC. I've spent

many hours swapping images between the 2 machines. I guess a further issue is how each viewer's screen is calibrated.

Al- I'm now looking at your picture on my I-Mac, my previous comment was made while viewing from my laptop.

I've got them side by side and the picture on the I-Mac looks flatter. I'm getting the same

effect that you're getting, i.e. the laptop makes the pic look more enhanced than it actually is. I guess this implies that the smaller screen is not as accurate?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for taking the time to help me figure out what is going on.

I think what you are seeing is one part of what I am experiencing.

I think the BIG DIFFERENCE is APPLE's new gloss-finished display.

It's like wetting down a dry stone......the stone becomes alive with color and light.

When this (same thing) is viewed on a non-glossy display it looses some of it's luster.

This could be my story.... and I'm stick'n to it. Maybe.

Gerhardt,

Sorry for the confusion....the other version had been posted previously under the title: "Digiscoped Eagle". In retro-spect I think it appears too washed-out because of inadequet post-processing and not because my Macbook display has a glossy finish.

Thank you for the nice comments,

Al
