What magnification for Noctilux

The M3's .91x VF is great for this if you have one handy. Besides the 1.25x magnifier that Leica makes, there is the Megaperl's 1.35x M-magnifier which does the same thing, just as well, for about half the cost. You don't get the leather magnifier holding case, however.

I am just wondering that what magnification to use Noctilux for optimum focus .72 0r.85.

Without question, the 0.85x. I bought my 0.85x to work with lenses >=50mm and it is perfect for my Noctilux, 75/2, 90/2, and 135/4. I also have the 1.25x VF magnifier and when I screw that on I have an effective magnification of 1.06. :) No excuses for me... :D

the higher he magnification the better! At least for these eyes. I use a 1.35 on both my .72 M7 and .65 M8. Wouldn't be without it for critical focus. The M7 becomes a 1.0 view...great! Interestingly, the epson RD-1 (the first d-RF) has a 1.0 view to start with, with 28, 50, and 75 frame lines only. The reduced magnified views are needed to see wider angle frame lines, of course. best...Peter
