andym911 Posted February 17, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My wife asked me to 'finish the roll' in her Minilux..it was bathday for the kids so here is the result...Tri X film and point and shoot. Quite like the result, anyone else still using the minilux at all? andy
Advertisement Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Hi andym911, Take a look here Minilux anyone?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Half-Handed Posted February 17, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2008 No, but I love the CM. It's taking a brief holiday while I try out my new Hexar AF but the CM's a lovely little camera. I'm sure less people are using the Minilux than did, if only because of the dreaded E02 error.
andym911 Posted February 17, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted February 17, 2008 Am sure the CM is a great camera..was often tempted but I already have too many compact cameras...regarding the dreaded E02 error, touch wood , still working after 5 years. andy
dorman Posted February 17, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 17, 2008 Yes, I'm still using a Minilux, still OK after 8 years. But I have to confess it spends more time in the cupboard these days since I got my Panasonic FZ18 (with Leica lens :<))) I'm always impressed with the quality it delivers on Elite Chrome 100 slide film. The only reason I would have swapped it for a CM is the latter's ability to default to Flash Off, instead of having to press the Flash button 6 times every time you turn it on to avoid the flash going off in low light conditions. If it gets the EO2 now I guess I'll just bin it with much sadness.
Half-Handed Posted February 17, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 17, 2008 I agree, it was a very sad day indeed when the Minilux kicked the bucket but the CM is a more than adequate (if shockingly expensive) alternative. My missus has the 35Ti which looks interesting and I am interested to see what the first roll from my Hexar looks like. I still think it's a grave pity that Leica isn't interested in a digital equivalent of these cameras, especially in light of the massive disappointment the Sigma DP-1 looks likely to be. rubenkok Posted February 18, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 18, 2008 Hi Andy, Yes, I'm still using a Minilux too. Not that often but when on business trip it easier then the M6. Great little camera. Used it last year at the Paris Air Show and hopefully many years to come! http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/42626-salon-international-de-l-ronautique-et.html http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/42625-salon-international-de-l-ronautique-et.html All the best Ruben

masjah Posted February 18, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 18, 2008 I also moved over to a CM (for the extra facilities) which I got s/h for a good price. My Minilux was sold on to a friend, who is very pleased with the sheer quality of the optics; an incredibly cost effective way into real Leica image quality. Its "classic" double Gauss Summarit 40/2.4 has the real Leica look about it, and in practice is up there with the Leica primes. So my old Minilux lives on! As a non-digital user my CM is in regular use as my pocket camera.
spectorama Posted February 19, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 19, 2008 Before I got my M3 last month, the Minilux was my only Leica camera. I really love it. I git excellent results both with BW and color. The CM is on my wishlist, but it is so expensive and I cant find one here in Argentina.
