roguewave Posted February 12, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted February 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My wife's Sony Cybershoot went the way of the D2 sensor (kaput!). She has been shooting with my Lumix DMC FX10 and she loves it. Now, she has shown interest in "experimenting" with the D3. The stock Vario is WAY TOO large. I am soliciting opinions as to what R lens makes the most sense. I'd need to configure it to use with Aperature Programming, but no need for autofocus. My first take would be the R 24 f2,8. I need help so as to not shoot myself in the foot over this one. Ease of use to get her along the curve has a strong Beta weight in my thinking, but that's why I asking others to help me out. Â To reduce the size and weight, while retaining autofocus and flexible exposure modes, I recommend the Olympus Zuiko 35mm f/3.5 macro. It is nice fit on my Digilux 3, very sharp wide open and costs only $200.
spylaw4 Posted February 12, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted February 12, 2008 I had quite good results with the R 28/2.8, but the 24 would be fine IMO. The Zuiko 35 is also a good lens but perhaps one should ponder on the 70mm effective focal length - depending on personal preferences.
rsolomon Posted February 13, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted February 13, 2008 Ben i would consider a two R Lenses (ofcourse the adapter is required): Â 24/2.8 50/ 2 (i would prefer the 50) Â and Leica D 25/F1.4 - designed to be used with the Digilux 3 (hard to find and $$)

roguewave Posted February 13, 2008 Author Share #7 Â Posted February 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) By the way Leica will replace your bad didgilux 2 sensor...... Â Â Richard, I'm happy to report that my D2 is just fine. It sleeps on my night table. Both as art and ready to grab. Love that camera. I have a very late model and it is running like a charm. My wife's Sony Cybershot's sensor died. The image is similar to the one's produced by the "dead" D2's sensor. Thanks for the sympathy card and suggestions. discobiscut Posted February 19, 2008 Share #8 Â Posted February 19, 2008 I am strongly thinking of gettig a digilux. A D2 would be great as the price is closer to what I would like (I know price isn't a thing to be mentioned here) and I really like the slightly smaller lense, and really I think the quality is really all I need The D3 has interchangeble lenses, as I like wideangle what would be a better lense that wasnt as large as the kit one that comes with a new D3? and is there anywhere that sells just a D3 body. I am noticing all the ebay M8's are usually sans lens
