RobMac Posted February 12, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have asked this as well on another forum, but talk to me about the 80-200/4 R. Have seen Doug Herr's comments, dug up what I could from the web, and have decided to give one a try (on a 1DS2). Would love to see some further samples of what the lens can do. The MTF charts, especially in the mid-range look nice. The idea is as a walk-about/hiking moderate telephoto that will give me the opp. to cut back or extend the FL in a pinch. It will probably sit at 100-135mm and wide open most of the time.
Advertisement Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Hi RobMac, Take a look here 80-200/4 R. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cnguyen Posted February 16, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 16, 2008 I have an 80-200mm f4 R and like it. It's real close in IQ with my 180mm f3.4 APO but more convenient to use with shorter minimum focusing range. The first 80-200 I had didn't perform very well. The current one is tack sharp. I have all my R lenses lined up and ready for R10. I would check out the lens before you buy it.
