Advertisement Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Hi rob_x2004, Take a look here Shed any light on Reala USA v Reala import?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted February 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2008 The theory is that the import film has been handled/shipped more and my have more chances to be exposed to detrimental environmental conditions. I don't know if there is any proof to this theory.
peter_n Posted February 11, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 11, 2008 I have a sample of one experience with this film. I bought some rolls of imported Reala at B&H last summer and took them to Fiji, then back home. So mine went through an x-ray at Boston, LA, into Fiji , Fiji outbound, and LA again. I had no problems. Below is a pic of a fisherman on a fish slab in a Suva market.
rob_x2004 Posted February 11, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted February 11, 2008 But is it the same film? I can understand the price differential if one is manufactured in America due mnfr and labour costs. When I travel I often come across asia versions of all the film types, well Kodak Konica, Fuji, that is manufactured in Asia somewhere and is boxed differently. I wondered whether this film has the same specifications. Now there seems to be a third batch in the mix, domestic USA production. Its easy to assume that the manufacturers have several plants all manufacuring to the same specs. I wonder which one I would get if I bought the stuff over the counter in Aus.
