biglouis Posted January 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) All Sorta-related to the thread below but different requirement. Just took delivery of a TE 135 to use on my M8. Heavy lens! I'm worried about using it when the M8 is mounted on a tripod. Given the posts in the past about the weakness of the M8 tripod bush I was wondering whether I could get a tripod collar from somewhere? Does such a thing exist, e.g. a generic tripod collar for a TE 135? Many thanks for any advice LouisB

doubice Posted January 27, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2008 Louis, I don't know of a generic tripod collar for the Tele Elmar 135mm. I would not worry about using the lens without one though, the 135 TE weighs about the same as a 90mm Summicron or the Noctilux. The M8 with its centrally located tripod thread is actually better balanced on a tripod than the earlier M's were. As long as you don't mount the camera on a tripod, extend the center column fully and than release the lock to let the whole outfit go 'plonk' to the bottom, you have nothing to worry about. (You'd have problems with any camera if you did that....) Best, Jan
