pure nostalgia and well captured, straight out of Empire of the Sun. The slo mo fly past I could repeat and repeat until the cows come home...

David - I'm right there with you. I love that scene from "Empire of the Sun." One of my dreams is to someday fly a P-51. Until then, it's pictures . . .

Mark,

Racy picture of a racy aircraft.

Two thoughts:

- I'm going to Oshkosh this year and will travel via Washington to the National Museum. I heard about this one also: any comparison notes?

- flying in a P51: you only need two things to fly: airspeed and money. In Holland you can fly backseat (cramped, but hey, who's complaining) for something like € 750 / 20 minutes.

I'll pass for a while and buy yet another camera related thingy for same amount.

Macro,

If you've not seen the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) on the Mall (downtown DC), then I would see that first. The Udvar-Hazy Museum (also part of the Smithsonian) is located in Dulles, VA - about 45 minutes from downtown DC. Udvar-Hazy has a very impressive static display, much larger than NASM.
