The plastic pivoting tip on the advance lever of my cherished Leicaflex SL is cracked. I have a new tip, but want to make sure that I do no harm. Can anyone confirm the proper procedure to take the old tip off and put the new tip on?

Thanks in advance.

John,

If you've not already done so,you should first remove the lever from the camera and seeing thats its cracked, just break off the old plastic cover.

You should tell from that whats required to fit the new one.

There are what appears 2 metal caps under the lever,i presume therefore there are 2 plastic pins on the plastic cover,if so they are more them likely just a press fit.

Best of luck,,

Noel

John,

Have just checked my SL, you should not need to take the lever off the camera, not having replaced the plastic it appears to have two pins inserted from underneath, these may press into recesses in the plastic, it will become more clear when you have broken off the old one. let us know how you get on.

Regards Stuart.
