ptomsu Posted January 27, 2008 Share #22 Posted January 27, 2008 At these light levels shown in the samples below my 1,4/25 was also focusing sharp on the E3. I was speaking about available light, or some light sources in darkness. There the AF did not work. Period.

There's alway good old manual focus for those occasions!
ptomsu Posted January 27, 2008 Share #24 Posted January 27, 2008 Would that not be more the fault of the camera? There's alway good old manual focus for those occasions! Well, yes, might be! Think you did not read my other complaints about these issues, that Oly and Pana/Leica all said their equipment is working. And they repeated so long till I threw this on their heads. Now I am free of these issues And BTW, Nikon does not show these issues, neither D3, nor D300 nor D2X. I already tried. Under same circumstances. So enjoy your MF on an AF camera

I wonder if resolving your AF sensitivity issue was just a firmware upgrade away? BTW, are you getting a lot of dust problems with your Nikon sensor yet? I was not aware of a FW 1.1 for the 25 some 3 weeks ago. Maybe they have this already? Any pointer/link? I never had dust problems on the D2X and I am also not seeing any so far on the D3. But I try to work very clean.

ptomsu Posted January 28, 2008 Share #28 Posted January 28, 2008 I don't know of a link to update the 25 Summilux firmware, so your lens was 1.0 firmware? Yes, 1.0 And there is also no download for this lens on the Pana Homepage - just checked. So no clue where you got your 1.1 from
goodbokeh Posted January 28, 2008 Share #29 Posted January 28, 2008 Yes, 1.0 And there is also no download for this lens on the Pana Homepage - just checked. So no clue where you got your 1.1 from Yes, that is a mystery. I did note when I purchased mine (in the Fall) from B&H that a Japanese camera shop, selling the 25 Summilux on ebay, touted that it's lens had the latest firmware update but nothing more. mym6is12 Posted January 29, 2008 Share #30 Posted January 29, 2008 Just noticed my 25 f1/.4 is also running 1.1 - it must have been supplied with it. B&H in November.

I wonder if something more than just the firmware was changed on the 25 Summilux? That might explain why there is no link for the firmware upgrade. ptomsu Posted January 30, 2008 Share #33 Posted January 30, 2008 Just would like to be sure if you are really seeing the SW Version of the lens and not of the camera?
mym6is12 Posted January 30, 2008 Share #34 Posted January 30, 2008 Just would like to be sure if you are really seeing the SW Version of the lens and not of the camera? Yes reporting Body 1.1 and lens 1.1 ( reports lens 1.0 with the 7-14, so not a body firmware bug :-) Perhaps Panasonic have added distance information hardware to make the lens compatible with their L10 live-view AF mode ? ptomsu Posted January 30, 2008 Share #35 Posted January 30, 2008 Yes, this seems to be the case. What scares me is that they do not announce this on their Website, as well as therer is obviously no way to download and install Have fun

mp_legend Posted January 6, 2009 Share #38 Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for pointing me the direction for the photos/galleries Those photos most are very nice in the color rendition, sharpness and nice bokeh.. From the above mentioned this lens might potentially not work well in term of autofocusing when mounting on Oly E-3. My question is, after both the E-3 and 25/1.4 lens updated the firmware, will it work fine? ..or its just purely certain produced lens got defect and need exchange?
