FrankA Posted January 17, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) For anyone that is using the 50mm f/1.4 R on a 4/3 camera, can you tell how you like it for portraits compared to say the 80mm f/1.4? I am thinking on a 2x crop camera the 50mm is just about the perfect focal length for portraits. Examples of both if you have them please. Or any other R lens for portraits? Advertisement Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Hi FrankA, Take a look here Leica 50mm f/1.4 R on 4/3 for portrait?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rob_x2004 Posted January 17, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2008 I guess this will open up the old argument, that the lens will be the lens and will have its characteristics, only that its borders will be cropped as tough by frisk....or not depending which side of the coin. For what it is worth I reckon the 50f1.4 is a nice look. At portrait distance you can turn the out of focus into a smear if you chose to, if thats what you like, and you can still keep the head in relatively good focus, if that is what you like, or vice versa. With a ninety you are a little more limited in your choice.
