Experiences with 50mm Summarit 2.5 on film

I was curious about if anyone had experience with the 50mm Summarit on film. This are with Portra 400 (sent to lab, scanned with Frontier). I find the images to be quite saturated and for some reason the black/shadows get a bit crushed (e.g. the tree in this image).

I thought it might be an issue with metering, but with my Summilux ASPH, the images are more crisp/clean.

I love the ergonomics and size, but Is it just that the lens performs better on digital?

Welcome to the Forum.

You need to do a side-by-side comparison, of the same scene taken on the same roll of film, on the same day, with the two lenses, set at the same aperture(s)  to make any meaningful conclusions.

do you know the frontier scan settings?

if you have a macro lens, take a pic of the negative [follow the guides in the "film forum" section] and, that will show you exactly whats actually on the negative
