colonel Posted yesterday at 12:44 PM Share #1 Posted yesterday at 12:44 PM Advertisement (gone after registration) hi there, looking for a new 28mm lens. The APO seems slightly sharper but the 1.5 seems amazing as well, and of course you get f1.5 !! anyone used both and can comment on differences in draw, colours, sharpness, contrast, etc. ? thanks

Stuart Richardson Posted yesterday at 01:29 PM Share #2 Posted yesterday at 01:29 PM It seems both Jack Takahashi and Fred Miranda went through multiple copies to get ones that were properly centered and Jack was not able to with four copies. Looking at the test performance from both, I can say that the 28mm APO Lanthar that I have looks MUCH better than both. I posted a thread a while ago about it where you can see pictures. But I can't comment on production variation because I only had one lens and it is perfect. I am extremely pleased with the lens. It has some noticeable vignetting like many voigtlander lenses, but other than that it is essentially perfect. No fringing that I can see, and tack sharp from corner to corner even at f2. I used to have the 28mm Summicron and the Voigtlander is much better to my eyes. The build quality is also superb in my copy. My only other current Voigtlander lens is the 50mm APO Lanthar, and it is the same: great build and essentially perfect performance surpassing the 50mm Summilux ASPH I was using before https://jacktaka.com/voigtlander-28mm-f15 https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1842505/0#infinity2

I wonder whether the centering is more of a problem with the 1.5 rather then the APO. Interestingly fredmiranda also needed three copies of the Leica Summiluax 28mm to find one that was centered. this certainly makes we more likely to buy new, rather then used!
