Pelu2010 Posted yesterday at 05:06 AM Share #1 Posted yesterday at 05:06 AM Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I would like to trigger the leicaq3 with the edelkrone slider. The aim is to make Timelapse’s. But while moving the camera I can only guess moving the slider, because ther is no trigger cable for the q3. I have found this cable; SmallRig - Panasonic Remote-Camera Control Cable - 2970 Has anyone found a solution? hoe do you do Astro with the q3 without a trigger? I am fighting this because I know the camera is good for Night Timelapse. but the intervalometer is unreliable ( skips images and does not finish the Timelapse with the correct number of images) and for the power consumption you need a dummy. so my level of frustration is pretty high. I bought the camera as second unit, portrait , street and …. timelapse camera. But for the Timelapse I am very disappointed. the main issues: 1. set up is not intuitive you need two Menus to set it up > 2. the Intervall skips images 3. power consumption high and powerbank does not top up the battery. 4. there is no way to synchronize the camera to a slider or motion control. I had so many times where I set up the camera and after inspecting it, the interval was finished with 50 images instead of 300. I have now started the Future Timelapse’s with a count of 5000 or 9000 so it does not stop. But I don’t understand why the camera is doing this. But my final and most important issue is: I am done with Timelapse that don’t move. seen it all done it all. I need a solution that the camera is triggers by the slider. Has someone a solution to this? it’s driving me nuts 🥜 cheers … peter
Advertisement Posted yesterday at 05:06 AM Posted yesterday at 05:06 AM Hi Pelu2010, Take a look here Leica Q3 trigger cable Usbc to Klinke 2,5 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Pelu2010 Posted yesterday at 05:22 AM Author Share #2 Posted yesterday at 05:22 AM Ah forgot one ! 5. if the Intervall started and the Intervall is 1-4 seconds > try to stop this interval! you need to push the center button> A menu shows up that asks you if you want to end the Intervall the you need to select! But if the Intervall fires the next images the menu and the option disappears! so you start again! so the only way to stop is to shut the camera! ? can’t we have a two button press to stop the Intervall? or two buttons in sequence. ? Image this happens in snow and icy conditions , where your brain is slow and the fingers are cold. most of the time I work in conditions that are not pleasant. and usability and been able to trigger something are very important. but the app and connectivity for the q3 are that limited that I am at the stage to quit this. same problem I have with the dji gimbal. would also be nice if the gimbal could trigger the camera. For 360ies but is not possible. Cheers
mujk Posted 15 hours ago Share #3 Posted 15 hours ago I'm afraid the remote control cable you think of would have to be quite complex. The slider basically contains a switch that connects two wires in the cable for a short period of time when an image should be taken, while the Q3 expects some sort of command sequence from the Fotos App over the USB connection. So the cable would need to have a small microcontroller built in, programmed to emulate this functionality of Fotos.

Not necessarily that complicated, but of course also the communication protocol/command structure used with the Q3 needs to be known.
Pelu2010 Posted 12 hours ago Author Share #6 Posted 12 hours ago So basically Leica could make the cable pretty easily if they wanted?
