Advertisement (gone after registration)

What is going on? Every thread I look at on l-camera-forum now has at least one “response” In this form:

Hi, <Author-Username>. Take a look here <Link-displaying-thread-title>. I’m sure you’ll find what you were looking for.

The link actually goes to Amazon, performing a broad search on the title. Which sometimes show the product mentioned in the title, but is often ridiculous and irrelevant. In my view, this is the very definition of spam. It is extremely annoying. It goes beyond legitimate advertising. Advertisements are a necessary evil, but they should not disrupt the content or pose as a fellow photographer offering a helpful hint. It’s like inserting an ad as a paragraph in a newspaper story.

As Queen Victoria said, “We are not amused.”

(Edit: And sure enough, as soon as I posted this, Mr. “Advertisement” posted a link to “Spamazon.” No, that was not what I was looking for.)

If you become a paid member there will be no advertising,
if you want to save the money for becoming a paid member then you have to live with that, as on many other websites and forums.
