Sigma may have newer Firmware for some of their lenses so i checked mi versions and found for all 3 lenses i have newer Versions for my
February 2025 bought 14mm 1.8 DG HSM, 28mm 1.4 DG HSM and 105mm DG DN Macro where actual firmware version is 0.1 to 0.3 higher.
Sigma claims for those lenses that: The operational stability has been improved.

I could can check that with my SL2 in the Camera Informations and the Firmware Updates are here to find.
Sigma Lens Firmware Updates for Leica

I run in problem when i wanted to update the lenses as the firmware file name is confusing so i renamed them to lensname.plf to not mix them up and copied them to the SD card.
This did not worked as the Sl2 could not find a update file so i downloaded the file again and copied it with original name to the SD card and firmware update was loaded and executed.

  1. Don't change the file name, you will get a No Update found error message
  2. download one file per time, copy only one and the correct one for the attached lens to the SD card
  3. Do not copy all files to the SD card, update will not run either
  4. only one and the correct one .plf file on the SD card works
  5. if firmware file is the wrong one the update window show up only for a fraction of a second.
  6. before updating make sure the camera has full battery to finish the update process
  7. The 105mm Macro took about 2 minutes to end the update, the other two much less.
  8. Don't switch off the camera when updating, wait till you get the message that the update is done

Use this on your own risk, as with all firmware updates there is the risk to brick the device, especially if camera switches off during update process.

All lenses seem to work as before, but i had no time to verify if they show a considerable better function in AF performance or speed.
