andybarton Posted January 17, 2008 Author Share #21 Posted January 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Cheers Robert. If I really get into it (past the 58 films I have left in these chemical bottles ), I will certainly look out on eBay
Advertisement Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Hi andybarton, Take a look here E6 Results - home processing. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted January 17, 2008 Share #22 Posted January 17, 2008 You better start shooting some film. Once you mix the E6 chemicals, they are only good for about a week. I used a 500ml kit from AGFA and just waited until I had four rolls to develop and did them all at once. I still have a few of these kits, but they may be expired. I might try a roll and see what I get. Robert
andybarton Posted January 17, 2008 Author Share #23 Posted January 17, 2008 I mix as I go. The raw chemicals are good for 6 months, according to Tetenal.
roguewave Posted January 17, 2008 Share #24 Posted January 17, 2008 Andy, very impressive & inspiring. My wife and I came to a truce around 1977 about darkroom chemicals. They went or I did. I practically lived in that dark cell. Can't say I miss it ,except for that mystical feeling of being a real alchemist. You do us all proud & your images are grand. robsteve Posted January 18, 2008 Share #25 Posted January 18, 2008 I mix as I go. The raw chemicals are good for 6 months, according to Tetenal. Make sure you don't let the developer go off. Once that happens, you end up with underdeveloped, dark slides. I don't have the spec sheets handy, but Kodak used to give the shelf life for each step of the E6 process and the developers had the shortest life once the bottles were opened. rob_x2004 Posted February 25, 2008 Share #26 Posted February 25, 2008 Updates? Now that you have been busted with a roll of Astia .
andybarton Posted February 25, 2008 Author Share #27 Posted February 25, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I haven't taken any Astia for a while now, but intend to do so on a trip to Venice in a couple of weeks. I shall probably bite the bullet and process a load of that myself when I get back.
eekimel Posted February 27, 2008 Share #28 Posted February 27, 2008 Hey Andy: Congratulations on taking up the E-6 endeavor. I spent the better part of three years, shooting slide film (much of it pushed) and using a Jobo CPE (learned at school with the multi-step, thankfully, when I started at home the "rapid E-6" was readily available, combining bleach and fix). One thing about the wash (and I am a little rusty on this) I believe that you can safely go gradually down in temperature on your final wash and not suffer any major issues but if the temperature fluctuates upward, then you run a risk of having nasty things happen to the emulsion. Have fun.
