Hello all, I've just posted the second part of my "A Return to the Q" post. In my previous post, I discussed what drew me back to the Leica Q line and how it compares to the M and SL systems. This time, I dive into which Q model | chose, why it fits my kit, and compare each model of the Q lineup. If you are torn between the models I hope that this will help!

Thanks for the writeup. I went Q2 Reporter --> Q3 --> Q2 Reporter and am overall quite happy with the decision. There are times when I wish I could crop a tiny bit more or that AF was a little better, but not enough to give up my Q2 Reporter

Thanks for sharing, I’ve been tempted at times to go and try the Q3 43 but I am just loving the Reporter!

Just curious why you prefer the Q2 to the Q3?

Is it just the colour and trim or something else?

Why do you wish that?
47.3 MP gives a lot of room for heavy crops, except you need to blow-up the cropped part for big size prints.
But yes, the 60,3MP of the Q3 gives more room for heavy cropping.

It largely comes down to ergonomics and user experience. I prefer the button layout of the Q2 and my fingers are apparently too big to comfortably use the directional pad on the Q3. The tilt screen sticking out so much always bothered me and I rarely used it, so it was a constant small negative for me. The Q2's images also better match the look/feel of photos out of the M11 + 35 Lux, which is a big plus.

I forgot that I do miss the Q3's much improved low-light performance. I typically don't take the Q2 past ISO3200 (ISO6400 if I'm in a pinch) because the noise is very ugly and green.

I end up taking a lot of landscape photography and sometimes find myself cropping rather heavily and printing large (e.g. 17x22), so the extra MP do matter to me on a fixed focal length lens. I'm a sucker for detail in photos, so having more MP to resolve and see them is satisfying to me.
