I noticed that my SL2-S (latest firmware) doesn’t charge via the USC-C port in my car. Fast flashing red light on camera body, the camera is frozen and I need to unplug it and take out the battery to reboot it. The USB-C car port certainly provides enough amps because I can charge my iPad with it.

Could it be the Apple CarPlay that messes up the camera?

Do you have similar issues? Thanks!

Car play is turning the camera on? Taking photos when you get a turn signal?

Why don't you plug in a charger for the battery in your car instead of the camera?

The camera has to be off to charge; otherwise, it does trickle charge.

Confirmed: the SL2-S does not charge through my car’s USB-C ports that have Apple CarPlay, it makes the camera freeze and I need to take out the battery to restart it.

However, it does charge through the USB-C ports that don’t support Apple CarPlay (e.g., at the back seats of my car).

Truly bizarre!

Not really bizarre, the USB port on many cars is made to send data for CarPlay / Android Auto and not for charging devices.
Obviously your CarPlay port has too low power to charge the Camera and send her in a death loop.
