Not sure what is the "small tripod-connection plate" you talk of and what you messed up, the tread?
At least my Sl2 has the usual tread for tripods as most cameras have.
Can you post a photo?

What did you do? I think this is integrated into the body frame...you want the tripod to be fully secure to the camera, so you don't want it to be a part that could come loose. Did you just scratch it or something? I think Leica is the only one who could fix this, and it might not be something that is fixable without replacing the camera. If you look at this SL2 teardown, you will see that the cover part is part of the whole bottom plate, and the tripod thread itself is part of the main internal part of the camera body.

Thank you, yes it is quite scratched. This sounds quite badly and complicated.
