Einst_Stein Posted Monday at 10:55 PM Share #1 Posted Monday at 10:55 PM Advertisement (gone after registration) One thing I like about LUMIX LX camera is its lossless square format and 16x9 aspect ratio. LUMIX paid the price to offer somewhat larger sensor area. When using APS-C lens on FF sensor, the body will adapt to show only the area within the APS-C format, but it should be perfect alright to use square format, without and hardware cost, just the firmware tweak. I hope LUMIX to offer such options.
Advertisement Posted Monday at 10:55 PM Posted Monday at 10:55 PM Hi Einst_Stein, Take a look here TL mount APS-C lens on LUMIX S camera: get square image 20mm x20mm possible? Firmware?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
FrozenInTime Posted Monday at 11:29 PM Share #2 Posted Monday at 11:29 PM That is a good suggestion ; the possibilities of square crops in camera are under appreciated, but as it will not give Leica or Lumix any more sales, the priority is probably close to zero. However if you can live without AF, 24x24 crops from dumb APS-C lenses can give unique results e.g 7Artisans 35mm T/1.05 an APS-C / S35 cine lens on the the SL2-S https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/338558-day-before-king-confers-dunfermline-as-a-city/
Einst_Stein Posted Monday at 11:48 PM Author Share #3 Posted Monday at 11:48 PM I am sure it is possible to make more sales for LUMIX. It happened on LUMIX Lx100x.
