I am no expert, but in the best tradition of online forums I'll chip in anyway 😁

I suggest trying it first without a filter. It will be good practice, and you will get some shots. Then you can look critically at the shots and see where you need more tonal differentiation and look for filters accordingly. I don't think there can be any general recommendation, because butterflies come in all sorts of colours - it is very unlikely that the same filter would work for a Chalk Hill Blue, a Brimstone, and a Red Admiral.
