hutchinson14 Posted October 2 Share #1 Posted October 2 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Just bought a Leica M262 M-D from eBay and noticed when switching it on the LEDs flicker quite a lot before settling down. I have had a M-D before that didn’t do that and my M240p doesn’t do that. Has anyone experienced this. I have reported it to the seller on eBay as a possible fault, even though he doesn’t accept returns. Edited October 2 by hutchinson14
Advertisement Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Hi hutchinson14, Take a look here Leica M-D (type 262) flickering LEDs. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

hutchinson14 Posted October 2 Author Share #3 Posted October 2 I have upgraded the firmware and changed the SD card. Strange I have not noticed it on my previous M-D 262 or any of my M240’s I have owned. I don’t want to be sending it back for something that’s not a fault. hutchinson14 Posted October 3 Author Share #4 Posted October 3 (edited) Switched on this morning, everything ok with no flickering LEDs, so see what happens tomorrow. The seller has said they would accept it back and refund me. I am reluctant to do this because it’s such a rare camera. pippy Posted October 7 Share #7 Posted October 7 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) IMX (since acquiring my ex-shop-demo 2019) this is perfectly normal behaviour. Philip. EDIT : As it happens my own camera's battery was on charge when I read this post so I thought it worthwhile to double-check matters once battery was re-installed. As expected the LED flickered for a second or two as seems to be 'The Usual Deal'. FWIW my camera recently passed 21,000 frames without so much as a hiccough so I doubt that this 'flickering' is in any way unusual; in fact I suspect it's quite the opposite. It is probably more a sign that the camera is now 'Prep'd and Ready For Use'. Edited October 7 by pippy
oldwino Posted October 7 Share #8 Posted October 7 Flickering is a feature. 🫤
Datsch Posted October 15 Share #9 Posted October 15 (edited) IMX (I think that means ‘in my experience’,? I like it. I’m just trying to be down with the hip kids …) it flickers most when you put an empty card in. I just emptied my card as it happens and I just checked and I get 7 flickers with my empty 32GB 90Mb/s Sandisk card when turning on. I seem to recall it flickering less as it gets full but that could be my imagination. It may flicker for longer if you have a larger card? 32GB is plenty BTW And of course a long flash when you switch off as it writes the last image and generally sorts itself out. Perfectly normal IMX 😀 Edited October 15 by Datsch

Perfectly normal IMX 😀 I despise the incessant use of a profusion of really obscure TLA's (or FLA's or, erm, a-different-number of-F LA's etc.) which no-one can possibly understand unless they happen to be working in the same niche area. The other day in a passage I was reading it contained wording which was something like; "...and then we sent the TITTM to HMPC who dealt with it simply by handing it over to QKIILN..." WHY do folks insist on behaving like this? Or should that have been "WDFIOBLT"? Sheer Nonsense...and I do mean that quite literally. As for the 'Flickering'? I tend to liken this behaviour to ourselves having a yawn and a bit of a stretch either after we get out of bed but before getting down to work or else at the end of the day when we are just about to get back into bed after a long day 'at the office'... Smudgerer Posted October 17 Share #12 Posted October 17 Pippy it's the contagion of texting that's to blame for such idle idiocy. We do have languages, many in fact, mostly with deeply embedded ancient roots, some quite beautiful, all gifts to humanity. I for one cannot understand the bastardizing of those gifts.
