alanlwilder Posted September 15 Share #1 Posted September 15 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a small flash for daylight fill that takes full advantage of the Q3 TTL flash capability. I wanted the sf 26 but they are impossible to find and the current Leica sf 40 is too large and expensive to even consider. I understand Godox has some options but involves a trigger unit. Any suggestions on which trigger and flash combinations works well on the Q3?
Advertisement Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Hi alanlwilder, Take a look here TTL flash options for the Leica Q3 for daylight fill. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
coleica Posted September 15 Share #2 Posted September 15 (edited) I don't find the SF40 too big for the Q3 (personal preference). It is pricey, no question about it. As far as I know, if you want/need a TTL on camera, flash to work with the Q3, you are pretty much limited to Leica. I could be wrong, of course, but I looked high and low for a flash before getting the SF 40 (prior to tariff hit). There are plenty of inexpensive/compact options, if you are willing to give up the TTL and work on manual mode. In my case, manual flashes work well as long as I remained in the same setting (I am not a professional photographer and use the flash mostly for fill-in family images). One or two images to get the lighting right, and then shoot away (family members can get testy after a while ). But once you change settings (sunny to shady, dark to sunny, etc...) you need to more or less start from scratch (you get to learn how to guesstimate the proper flash setting after a while). Good luck with your search. If you find something, feel free to share your knowledge. Edited September 15 by coleica
