tcrk93 Posted September 13 Share #1 Posted September 13 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi team, My new to me 90mm elmarit was focusing off a fair amount so I attempted to deconstruct and see if it was something I could correct. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Leica specialist, but I have deconstructed a few lenses and fixed minor issues with them. So my problem is frustrating the heck out of me - it's a fairly simple deconstruction via the lens mount at the back but when reconstructed the focus mechanism is jammed and now infinity is focusing at 50m. It's frustrating as heck, it's like something is mechanically no aligned but there is nothing that can be tightened/loosened/realigned that I can see. Wondering if anyone has experience with managing this lens and any tips? Ultimately, I'm likely to ship it to DAG but I want to understand my failings! Thanks all! Patrick1955 Posted September 14 Share #3 Posted September 14 My guess is that you have reassembled the two halves of the helicoid in the incorrect position. Some years ago I dismantled my Tele-Elmarit 90 to remove nascent fungus but inadequately marked the point where the helicoid halves met correctly. It was incredibly frustrating to get it right - but patience and trial and error eventually saw it sorted. Mine works perfectly now and I hope and trust yours will too!
