One of the things I've noticed with my CL is that when using an M lens, the border(s) around the subject matter or parts of the borders light up in red when correctly focused. I'm using a Leica 50 f2.5 on my CL. After mounting the lens, I registered it with the camera body. The registration provides for identification between the body and the lens. If there is any other information exchanged I am unaware of it. I am curious as to the nature of the red outline lines of the subject material. How are they displaying correct focus with a manual focus lens? Anybody.

What you are seeing is Focus Peaking, it is common with mirrorless cameras, but I am not sure of the tech involved. I use it alot but find it more difficult with wide angle lenses, so my 2 TL lenses are the 11-23  and the 23, the former being an excellent lens, the latter a very good lens. above the 23 I use M lenses and find focus peaking to be useful, using magnification when I have the time. I tend to like white as the outline color set under Focus, Focus Assist on the main menu. The colors are Red, Green, Blue, White, or off, user choosable.

If you are using a Leica M to TL/CL adapter you shouldn't have to register a lens with 6 bit coding with the camera, it happens automatically. If you are using a 3rd party adapter then you can register the lens, but with most lenses 35mm and up it is not necessary, there is very little distortion to be corrected. You can easily test if your lens needs any correction. Other than the 6 bit coding there is no information past between the lens and camera.
