hydet Posted September 8 Share #1 Posted September 8 Advertisement (gone after registration) I stopped shooting film in Europe several years ago because of the risk and hassle of traveling with film--exposed or unexposed. I'm planning a winter trip back to Venice and would love to bring a film M. I'm wondering about the possibility of getting it processed in Venice, or maybe just shipping exposed rolls back to myself in the US. Any experience with this? Thanks. Tim I would check out vinicio's offer and see if you could buy your film there and have it processed too, in my opinion it's by far the best option. Depending on the film's sensitivity, ASA rating, there's always a risk of Xray/Scanning machines creating a base fog level on unexposed / exposed film going through airport security, some airports are better than others, some TVA people will hand check film if asked, others will refuse to do so........It's a crap shoot angst which you don't need when you roll up at the airport's security line. In the past I've also bought film abroad and when there's no good processing option and I've mailed the exposed film back to the US with no adverse problems, but I'd use postal services rather than the likes of Fedex who once Xray'd 20,000 feet of 16mm fresh stock sent from their NYC offices to Jordan for a shoot we were on with KODAK DO NOT Xray stickers plastered all over it, that did not deter Fedex. That cost an arm and a leg and a lot of shouting to put right. Another thing about mailing / sending packages to the USA now is that the self inflicted wounds of dear leader's tariff wars are slowing down and in some cases halting packages sent from the EU to the USA, my post office here in France advised me not to mail a birthday gift to DC because there was no guarantee that it would get there with the present nonsense prevailing.........Another reason to try vinicio's suggestion perhaps.
